Mark Your Calendars! 1/12/2013 Home Energy Challenge Kick-off Conference and Training

Efficiency Vermont, in partnership with the Vermont Energy and Climate Action Network (VECAN), is launching the Vermont Home Energy Challenge to foster public awareness about energy saving opportunities in the home and to encourage residents to take action – with a target of weatherizing 3% of the homes in your community in 2013.  A “Kick-off Conference and Training” for the Challenge has been scheduled for Saturday, January 12th from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm at Norwich University (Northfield) with registration beginning at 9:00 am.  The purpose of the Kick-off is to bring together all groups that have either signed up or are thinking about signing up for the Challenge to learn how it works and how to effectively participate.   Already 36 Vermont towns have signed up – with a goal of 50 towns by early January.

The day will include both plenary sessions and small workshop break-out sessions.  Agenda items will include: an overview of the Challenge, how to involve and motivate volunteers, how to implement specific turnkey programs such as home energy visits and door-to-door campaigns, and how to work with the media, among other topics.  Community groups are encouraged to bring up to four members of their team.  Continental breakfast and lunch will be served.  There is no charge for attending.

To register for the Challenge and/or to sign-up for the Kick-off Conference, go to www.efficiencyvermont.com/homeenergychallenge. Please register for the Kick-off Conference by Thursday, January 10th.  Contact Paul Markowitz at 802 540 7608 or pmarkowitz@veic.org if you have any questions.
