MRV Moves Final Plan Presentation

The final MRV Moves Active Transportation Plan will be presented to the community on October 20th, 7 PM, at the Waitsfield School.

For the last year, the Mad River Valley Planning District has led an effort to articulate a unified, multi-town, watershed-wide vision for recreational trails and non-motorized transportation facilities, identify how they integrate with economic development, enhance visitor experiences, enhance residents’ quality of life, and improve transportation choices. After analyzing the MRV’s current conditions and environmental constraints, updating trail counts, creating economic impact projections, undertaking a community survey, attending a series of community events, holding two public workshops, and convening numerous stakeholder and Advisory Committee meetings…the team has arrived at a final plan for active transportation in the Mad River Valley.

The MRV Moves Active Transportation Plan envisions a consistent, cohesive and connected regional system of trails, roads and sidewalks that provide a range of transportation options and recreational experiences for diverse user groups in the MRV, all while connecting users to the natural landscape and respecting the resources that make the Valley so special.

Come hear about the final plan, the findings, and the recommendations for implementation on Thursday, October 20, 7 PM, at the Waitsfield School Gymnasium. The presentation will take place as part of the monthly Mad River Valley Planning District Steering Committee Meeting. Don’t miss it and tell all your friends!

The project has been led by MRVPD and funded in partnership by the Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) Strong Communities, Better Connections Program, Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development (ACCD), Towns of Fayston, Moretown, Warren, & Waitsfield, the Mad River Valley Rotary Club and the Mad River Valley Chamber of Commerce.
