Vermont’s State Hazard Mitigation Plan Conditionally Approved by FEMA

Vermont Division of Emergency Management & Homeland Security (DEMHS) is very pleased to report that FEMA Region 1 has conditionally approved the latest update of Vermont’s State Hazard Mitigation Plan for 2013.    After the adoption letter is signed by Secretary of Administration Jeb Spaulding, FEMA will issue DEMHS the final approval for our State Mitigation Plan.   DEMHS truly appreciates everyone’s contributions and diligent efforts in updating the previous plan over the past 1 ½ years.   Final FEMA approval for our Plan is anticipated by early next week.

The 2013 Hazard Mitigation Plan will help guide Vermont communities in accomplishing  effective pre-disaster mitigation projects and initiatives  and will result in increased resiliency for towns, critical facilities, homes and public infrastructure throughout the state.     DEMHS again thanks everyone for their input and hard work in making Vermont’s State Mitigation Plan the best in the region, if not the entire country.
